The Wonders of Health Insurance

When it comes to your health, many people undervalue it, not realising what it means to be in good health. However, there are those who have had their invincibility tainted by the death, through illness, of a close friend or relative.

For those people, the value of health and medical insurance may be more than others. However, it depends on the quality of the National Health Service (NHS). In the UK, if you have a sniffle or broken leg, the NHS is great, however, anything more serious and things start to fall apart.

Waiting lists can be as long as three months if not longer for standard scans and tests, which could be an agonising wait if you suspected a life threatening disease like cancer. Those of you who work and pay significant taxes will understand the annoyance of that.

One solution to an NHS waiting list is to pay for private treatment as and when something crops up. However, this is assuming that you will never need much treatment, which, although hopefully the case, things may not work out like that. And if you are unfortunate enough to be struck with illness, the bills could soon be in the thousands and you could end up having to remortgage your home or take out a loan just to pay the hospital bills.

The smart alternative is health or medical insurance that can literally be a life saver. What level of cover you choose depends on your individual needs, there are a variety of options, including whether you want to insure just yourself or your partner and children as well, critical illness insurance and the addition of dental insurance.

Whatever you choose, the plus sides are endless, but first and foremost, queuing time for medical treatment and tests is at least halved. It is amazing what some money can do for a situation.

The problem with the NHS is it lacks funding that the private medical and health insurance sector is guaranteed through a premium. It is also oversubscribed and under staffed, which spells disaster for the average tax payer waiting for essential medical tests.

If you do decide to plump for private health or medical insurance, it could cost as little as £15 a month, but make sure you compare the market. Premiums vary greatly, and watch out for any loopholes and gaps that you might miss and find out later you are not covered for.

Most health and medical insurance policies have extra incentives that could actually result in you living a healthier life style. Many health insurance providers offer discounted gym membership and other health related incentives.

To conclude, for those who can afford it, private health or medical insurance can prove invaluable, and for those who can’t afford it, the more people who take out private policies means less people queuing on the NHS!

The National Health Service or the NHS is undoubtedly the largest employer in England. As an individual in the medical profession, you can expect to work with them at some point of time or the other. The NHS has a workforce comprising 1.30 million and more and this staff strength is possibly the biggest in the country. Its services are extended to more than 50 million people across the country. The NHS is also open to recruiting candidates or doctors from abroad who are out there to gain relevant experience in the industry. Dentists and doctors who wish to acquire training and work in the UK and are from a country outside the European Union need to meet certain requirements pertaining to work permit provisions and immigration rules in order to qualify for employment in UK hospitals.

The exception is made only in case of non-EU nationals who have completed three years as a post graduate doctor in any of the British medical schools. It is necessary to be a part of a foundation programme and thereby acquire a complete registration process with the GMC or the General Medical Council. It is necessary to be aware of certain facts when you decide to become a part of the NHS for seeking medical recruitment.

The competition is extremely stiff when it comes to the recruitment of junior doctors in the UK. The lack of right candidates has increased the demand for junior doctors who can train in the hospitals and become reputed doctors in medical establishments.

There is also enough scope for overseas medical graduates but it is necessary to be aware of the tough competition in the field before one takes the final plunge. However, becoming a part of the NHS does not necessarily promise you a job; you need to have the necessary qualifications in order to accomplish the task. The requirement for overseas specialists increases when it comes to specific medical fields. Specialists who are in demand include:

Dentists
Audiologists
Consultants in the field of adolescent and child psychiatry, radiology, old age psychiatry, anaesthesia and accident emergencies
Radiographers

In order to be eligible for NHS recruitment, you should have the necessary qualifications in your chosen field of expertise.

The increase in international recruitment activity has led to an increase in activities of the recruitment agencies. Reports suggest that the new agencies may lack the level of commitment that is displayed by the established agencies. One of the chief features of the recruitment process is that it has become co-ordinated and highly systematised in the recent years. Individual initiatives or the use of individual contacts in order to get proper openings for recruitment have given way to systemised and co-ordinated systems of recruitment.

When it comes to the UK health care sector, NHS hospital jobs are obviously the most sought after. It is therefore necessary to approach the right channels for seeking recruitment. You may as well miss the bus if you do not make optimum use of the opportunity.

How to Write a Teacher Resignation Letter

Resigning from any job is difficult. Resigning mid contract from a teaching position is very complicated. When a teaching contract is signed, both parties intend for the contract to be continued for an entire academic year. Schools hate to lose teachers mid-year because it disrupts the students’ educational experience and decreases their yearly academic progress. Although this is something that schools do not like, it does happen.

Q&A: How does the American Health Care System work?

Question by Lou-Lou: How does the American Health Care System work?
I’m from England and considering moving to American but to consider it properly I want to understand some things. Most importantly how does the American Health Care System work? In the Uk we have the NHS, a free health care system. I understand that in the US one must have health insurance but where would I get this? Furthermore, where would you go for general medical queries such as a cold, headache etc. (The US equivalent to a GP)?
I would really appreciate some help!

Medecho is totally committed to the National Health Service and in particular, high standards of patient care. We adhere stringently to the NHS Code of Practice, as set down by the NHS Executive and operate to strict standards, both in terms of good recruitment practice and a sound ethical stance. Being one of the largest locum doctor jobs databases around (over 35,000 doctors) continuously updated, we have successfully placed medical locum doctors in over 200 NHS Trusts, in all regions of the UK.

Over the years, we have made a conscious decision to channel more of our efforts and resources to NHS regions, with a higher demand for locum doctors, namely; South and North Wales, Midlands, North East, North West, all parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. By providing a higher level of concentration, we have delivered greater effectiveness and efficiency to these regions. We take the time to regularly visit our client’s sites and fully understand their needs.

Quality is our highest concern and is driven by a consistent focus on customer needs and feedback. In order to ensure the continuing development and improvement of our business activity, various forms of reviews, assessments, inspections and audits are constantly introduced, all of which are applied through efforts of fully trained and competent personnel.

Our philosophy of providing a high quality and efficient service to both doctors and hospitals, allows us to maintain the highest compliance, with the National Framework Agreement. State of the art database, allowing the quick matching of available doctors to jobs We have made contractual agreements with an Occupational Health organisation, to check declarations of health and Senior Physicians, for ongoing support and Clinical Governance. Fully trained team, all with a minimum of 6 years in medical (doctors) recruitment Our team of recruiters each have a minimum of 6 years experience in medical locums (doctors) and work in dedicated teams, each with their own speciality, so you can be sure each client will receive the highest levels of service and professionalism.

We are a current NHS PASA National Framework Agreement holder, for the supply of medical locums. Unlike other agencies, we specialise solely in locum doctors and as a specialist recruitment consultancy for hospital doctors, Medecho has rapidly expanded through excellent service provision. The UK offers more opportunities than ever before and no-one can get you there like Medecho. Whatever you are looking for, Medecho can help.
